Set up in 1988, Eastern Bloc Research Ltd published the monthly journal "Eastern Bloc Energy" for 19 years. Written by Dr David Cameron Wilson, it was the first and only English-language publication for many years on the energy industries of the former Soviet Union, its successor CIS states and the countries of Eastern Europe. All of its information was obtained from primary sources and much of it was not available elsewhere in the West.
Eastern Bloc Energy has now been superceded by "Russian Energy Monthly", which also contains information on the Ukraine, Belarus, the Baltic states and the countries of Eastern Europe: Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria and the former Yugoslavia. It will also include information of the major importance from Kazakhstan, Central Asia and the Caucasus, although these regions are now surveyed in other journals.
We also publish the annual "CIS and East European Energy Databook". With 170 pages and over 800 tables, it provides up-to-date data on production, transportation, exploration, refining, consumption and trade for oil, gas, coal and electricity in Russia, the CIS and Baltic states, and the countries of Eastern Europe.
Eastern Bloc Research Ltd has also written many consultancy reports on various aspects of the CIS and Eastern European energy industries.
